Situated to the west of the Humber River and south of the Gardiner Expressway, Mimico is quickly making a name for itself as a happening place to live. The phrase “Where to buy now” is becoming synonymous with the growing number of Etobicoke condos for sale here. In recent years, there have been a number of new Toronto condos completed in the area, with more on the way. Named after the Mississauga word Omiimiikaa, which means “abundant with wild pigeons”, Mimico is also abundant with green space, wildlife, and a laid back quality that is more and more drawing people out of Toronto’s downtown core.
If you are an outdoor lover, then buying a condo in Mimico is a great idea. The majority of condos here line the waterfront around Humber Bay, where you can find the Etobicoke Yacht Club and the Mimico Cruising Club. There are many parks, beaches, and walking trails, ready to take you anywhere. High Park is easily accessible along the Humber Bay Park Trail and the Martin Goodman Trail, and there is the huge South Humber Park in neighbouring Stonegate-Queensway. There are two main commercial areas in Mimico along Lake Shore Boulevard and Royal York Road, plus Sherway Gardens Mall is a few minutes away.
Streetcars on Lake Shore can take you all the way to the East End of the city, the 501-route being the longest in the world. There are also buses running north and south on Royal York that connect to the Bloor-Danforth Subway, where you can get connections to Mississauga and Toronto Pearson Airport. For drivers, you’ve got it good here with both Lake Shore and Gardiner Expressway out your back door.
Groceries can be found at The Bread Essentials which is a 4-minute walk and you'll find Mimico Dental Office a 4-minute walk as well. Interested in the arts? Look no further than Ukrainian Canadian Art Foundation. For nearby green space, Coronation Park - Etobicoke and Ourland Park could be good to get out of your home and catch some fresh air or to take your dog for a walk.
Without a car, you can get around quite easily. The closest transit stop is a BusStop (ROYAL YORK RD AT NEWCASTLE ST SOUTH SIDE) and is not far, but there is also a Subway stop, KIPLING STATION - SUBWAY PLATFORM, a 4-minute drive connecting you to the TTC. It also has (Bus) route 76 Royal York South nearby. Access to Gardiner Expressway is within a 4-minute drive away, making it easy for those driving to get into and out of the city using on and off ramps on Islington Ave.
