Toronto’s gay and lesbian community and an increasing number of young couples and families share this downtown neighbourhood. The central location attracts residents to the many Toronto condo towers, as well as the historic architecture and friendly vibe, that the Church St Corridor has become know for. One of the most loved of these condos in the The Merchandise Lofts, a community unto its self, this building has become an iconic landmark.
Some good places to grab a bite are Guu Izakaya, A&W Canada or Katsuya. Venture a little further for a meal at one of the neighbourhood's restaurants. If you love coffee, you're not too far from Starbucks located at 60 Carlton St. Groceries can be found at Loblaws which is nearby and you'll find Kovacs, Colin MD nearby as well. Entertainment is close by, with Ryerson Theatre, Ed Mirvish Theatre, Imagine Cinemas Carlton and Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas and VIP a 3-minute walk. With Museum-Discovery Ctr Toronto and The Textile Museum of Canada a 4-minute walk from your door, you'll always have something to do on a day off or weekend. Nearby schools include: Public Access Property and Ryerson Community Park. Love being outside? Look no further than Joseph Sheard Parkette and McGill Parkette, which are both only steps away.
Without a car, you can get around quite easily. The closest transit stop is a Light RailStop (CARLTON ST AT CHURCH ST) and is nearby, but there is also a Subway stop, COLLEGE STATION - SOUTHBOUND PLATFORM, not far connecting you to the TTC. It also has (Bus) route 306 Carlton, and (Light Rail) route 506 Carlton nearby. Residents also have easy access to Gardiner Expressway, which is within a 4-minute drive using on and off ramps on Yonge St.
