Like many neighbourhoods in Scarborough, Milliken was developed on former farmland and is now a suburban community with strong, resident-driven initiatives and ample recreational parkland. As a residential area, Milliken is designed for car drivers to get around using main roads, with easy access to Highway 404 and 401 via Sheppard Avenue. There are also local bus routes throughout the area, as well as the Milliken GO Train Station for commuters heading to Union Station in Downtown Toronto.
