A neighbourhood that has been reborn in recent years with a strong East End community vibe, Blake-Jones is a small locale tucked between Danforth Avenue and Leslieville. Known by locals as “The Pocket” it’s a popular spot for working professionals in arts and culture, education and government, with an eco-friendly vibe.

The residential atmosphere consists largely of semi-detached houses and townhouse units, with lively front porches along quaint tree lined streets. There are some Toronto condos in the area, but nothing too big and flashy just yet. Following the growth of Leslieville and The Beaches, Blake-Jones is drawing a lot of attention both from prospective homeowners and condo developers, as the neighbourhood has great access to the restaurants and stores of the Danforth, Little India, and surrounding ‘hoods.

The convenience of the Bloor-Danforth subway line really can’t be beaten for trips into downtown, plus there are north and south-bound bus routes. But walking and cycling may still be the most common form of transportation in this charming, East End neighbourhood. Definitely worth a visit!
