Originally the two towns of Clarke and Darlington, Clarington was established in 1973 in the eastern end of the GTA in Durham Region. It’s mostly a rural community with its largest urban center located in Bowmanville. There are about 90,000 people who call Clarington home.

A great place to raise a family and enjoy the fruits of nature, condos for sale in Clarington may be slim-pickings, but new developments are on the horizon. It’s a growing community and the city living style that it offers is attractive because of the quaint, rural charm that comes with it. Located along Lake Ontario, the township has beautiful waterfront trails and it’s not far from the Oak Ridges Moraine. The main urban centre of Bowmanville has that idyllic small-town vibe, and it’s home to the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, the area’s largest employer.

Nearby Oshawa, Clarington’s main attractions include the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, a hotspot for major racing events and the annual United SportsCar Championship, Canada’s oldest private zoo located in Bowmanville, plus many exciting local hockey clubs centered at the Bowmanville Arena, where in the 60s Bobby Orr played. The towns host annual Santa Claus Parades, and draw many visitors for the area’s natural tracts and landscapes.

With the planned expansion of the Go Transit light rail service into Bowmanville, Clarington will be much more connected, with convenient access to Toronto. And as a growing township that offers that charming sense of small-town rural, it’s certainly a place to watch
