Highgate is an established residential community that is notably popular among new Canadian families. The area offers a good mix of housing options between modern high-rise condos and other boutique townhouse developments. Most of the Burnaby condos for sale in Highgate are clustered around the major thoroughfare of Kingsway, as well as in the south end of the neighbourhood.

Highgate is home to several cultural and community centres such as the Nikkei Natural Museum & Cultural Centre that celebrates Japanese-Canadian history. There are several elementary schools within the boundaries of Highgate, as well as a nearby secondary school. The Highgate Village Shopping Centre offers the convenience of local shopping with a range of shops, services, fitness studios, and restaurants, while not too far away residents will find the Metropolis at Metrotown mall, with over 400 shops and stores. Nearby outdoor space includes Byrne Creek Ravine Park to the south and the popular Deer Lake Park to the north.

Kingsway runs through the southern portion of Highgate, providing a direct route into Metrotown and beyond to other areas of Metro Vancouver. Alternatively, the SkyTrain transit line runs pretty much parallel to Kingsway, with local stations at Edmunds and Royal Oak and smooth connection to Downtown Vancouver.

For groceries or a pharmacy you'll likely need to hop into your car as there is not much nearby.

Getting around the area will require a vehicle, as there are no nearby transit stops.
