21 River St, Toronto
Corktown Lofts
Overview
Once a mill factory, this relatively bland structure is much more than it seems from the outside. Located at River Street just north of Queen Street East, the property offers beautiful and authentic conversion lofts that are certainly worth a visit.
With just eight Toronto lofts available across two-storeys, each unit enjoys a sizable floor plan with some lovely hard-loft design finishes such as original cedar posts and beams, exposed brick walls, vaulted ceilings and carriage-style chandeliers. Mostly two-bedroom suites, Corktown Lofts is ideal for anyone seeking a live/work atmosphere, as well as young couples hunting for a first home. The building has limited amenities, but the trade off is lower maintenance fees and extra money in your pockets.
With easy TTC access to Toronto’s Financial District, the Eaton Centre at Yonge Street, and the St. Lawrence Market area, Corktown Lofts is a conveniently located downtown residence. The neighbourhood has many new and established cafes, restaurants, and shops.
Most Notable Features
At home in history: Corktown is named after the Irish immigrants that came to Toronto in the mid 1800s, fleeing the Ireland potato famine. Many of them were from the County of Cork, and they settled in Toronto’s east end, today called Corktown. Residents at Corktown Lofts will feel at home within this little piece of history.
Private residences: As Corktown Lofts offers only eight units each with it’s own private entrance, the building has a feeling of resident privacy and exclusiveness. It’s an ideal spot for homeowners who are happy with their own space and have no desire for communal amenities.
Local arts and recreation: Although Corktown Lofts lacks the extra amenities often found in downtown Toronto condos, the building is just south of Regent Park where there is a new Aquatic Centre and the Daniels Spectrum Arts and Culture Centre. Neighbourhood residents can enjoy a wide range of activities from swimming classes to theatre performances.
