Encompassing much of the GTA’s southwest corner across the beautiful Greenbelt Countryside, including a 25 km Lake Ontario frontage, Halton Region was officially incorporated in 1974, but the county dates back to the early 1800s. Drawing together rural and urban neighbourhoods, Halton is home to over 500,000 people.
Known for its proximity to the Niagara Escarpment, Halton is in many ways still a countryside community. While the urban centers have seen high residential growth over the last decade, the area as a whole remains committed to preserving local farmland and the natural tracts of Ontario’s Greenbelt. Currently, there are about 100 condos for sale in Halton, with many new developments emerging all the time. Manufacturing and financial industries, along with many business services, have taken up shop in Halton, strengthening connections with Toronto.
Cities such as Oakville and Burlington lead the way in urban condo development, both of which sit on the Lake Shore West Go Transit line that connects many of the cities along Lake Ontario between Toronto, Hamilton, and soon Niagara. Home to Sheridan College, Oakville attracts many students and professionals in the art and design industries. The towns of Milton and Halton Hills offer a more picturesque, small town lifestyle, and have been recognized as one of the safest places to live in the GTA. But whether you live in an urban hub or out in the country, a home in Halton means a smooth mix of city-hosted festivals and events, boutique shopping and fine dining, fun scenic destinations for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer, plus a vibrant waterfront culture.
Halton is certainly a place to watch for new condos, especially with the expansion of the GO Transit system, which will certainly affect values and trends throughout the area over the coming years.
