The cool history. In its previous life, Modern Beach Lofts was the 700-seat Scarboro movie house. Built in 1936, the Art Deco showpiece also served as a pool hall at one point, before being converted into a residential building in the late 2000s. A 3-storey addition to the theatre’s 2-storey exterior includes design elements and distinctive curves inspired by the original structure. Fun fact: when the parking garage was being excavated, workers found the original, sloped theatre floor!
Oh, those WINDOWS! The gorgeous curved floor-to-ceiling windows are everything, letting in a ton of natural light and showcasing views of the city below.
The rooftop terrace. In addition to a balcony that’s right off the living area, this unit has exclusive access to a massive rooftop terrace. So basically, when the weather’s nice, your living space doubles – the balcony and private rooftop give you an extra 1,000 square feet of living space (and a fantastic, unobstructed view)!
