Located across the harbour from Downtown Vancouver, this waterfront community is the smallest within the larger North Vancouver District, and it’s also the most urbanized with many Vancouver condos for sale along Lonsdale Avenue. With a diverse population across many smaller neighbourhoods like Moodyville, Cedar Village, and Westview among others, North Vancouver City enjoys the bustle of commercial shipping and a thriving film industry.
Living in North Vancouver City feels similar to life in a small town next door to a big city. Heading outwards into the surrounding mountains and natural green spaces like Capilano River Regional Park and Grouse Mountain, the neighbourhoods become wealthier and more secluded, while in the core of the city around Lonsdale and 13th Street the urban feeling is alive with local shops, cozy cafes, and interesting restaurants. Along the waterfront, the city shows its true marine character with attractions like Lonsdale Quay Market, Burrard Dry Dock Pier, and the outdoor Shipyards Night Market where Friday nights feature live music and good eats. The many urban parks and natural outdoor spaces make this an appealing area for raising a family, with a mix of public and private schools.
Local bus routes service the city along Lonsdale Avenue and Keith Road principally, plus SeaBus operates a passenger-only service across the harbour to mainland Vancouver. Drivers can take advantage of two bridges, Lions Gate Bridge on Highway 99 and Iron Workers Memorial Bridge to the east, to connect with the rest of the city.
